Physical and Chemical Properties:

Potassium hydroxide is usually sold as translucent pellets, which become tacky in air because KOH is hygroscopic. Consequently, KOH typically contains varying amounts of water (as well as carbonates - see below). Its dissolution in water is strongly exothermic. Concentrated aqueous solutions are sometimes called potassium lyes. Even at high temperatures, solid KOH does not dehydrate readily.

Application: 

    1. Used as a desiccant, absorbent, in the production of oxalic acid and various potassium salts, as well as in electroplating, carving, lithography, and other applications.

Mainly used as raw materials for potassium salt production, such as, potassium carbonate, etc. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used to produce , spironolactone, , etc. Used in the production of potassium soap, alkaline batteries, cosmetics (such as cold cream, snow cream, and shampoo) in light industry.
